Celebrate our seagoing history and bring old crafts back to life with Rescue Wooden Boats maritime heritage day
A great day celebrating local maritime heritage displays, family activities, and films! Activities include knot tying, crab boat quiz, making things which float, and two film screenings of Rescue Wooden Boats’ film, ’Lucy Lavers Return to Dunkirk 75 years on’. This evocative, hour-long film tells the story of how our newly-restored lifeboat Lucy Lavers made the commemorative journey from Wells-next-the-Sea to Dunkirk and back in May 2015.
Proceeds from the day will kickstart the fundraising for our latest restoration project, Whelker Bessie. An important local boat, Bessie also has her own intriguing Dunkirk history... We look forward to welcoming you!
