If you enjoy the great outdoors and like the thought of working in the countryside of Deepdale Farm on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast as part of a conservation team for our Wild Wednesdays, please read on ...
We are looking for a team of up to 10 volunteers, who’d like to learn some
practical conservation skills, particularly hedging, on an eco-friendly working farm.
Jason will supply you with a bacon sandwich when you arrive, you head out to the hedges for the day, eating a ploughmans lunch in the open air. Finish about 3pm.
The team is a maximum of 10 people working with Nathan & Stephen, the Deepdale Farm team. Its easy to social distance in the open air of Deepdale Farm, so a great activity in these strange times.
Work will primaily be working on our hedges, gapping up, replanting, coppicing and laying, restoring our ancient hedges, following the guidance of Norfolk Biodiversity Partnership. There are over 30km of hedges, so plenty to keep us busy.
"I just wanted to say how much Dave, Kevin and myself enjoyed the conservation weekend and the friends we made. Please pass on our thanks to the team for their hospitality and the very enjoyable barbecue. I know it’s the distant future but if you’re taking bookings for a future conservation weekend please include all three of us on the list."
Mik, Derbyshire
You need clothes suitable for working outdoors, and some sturdy footwear, wellies or walking boots would be ideal. Of course it never rains here, but bringing a waterproof might not be a bad idea!
Due to insurance and health & safety issues, anyone wanting to take part in our Conservation events must be over the age of 21.
You definitely need to book onto the event in advance. To book onto Wild Wednesdays, please message the Deepdale Farm team through the Deepdale Farm Facebook page - www.facebook.com/deepdale.farm/
Participants are welcome to book in and stay at Deepdale Backpackers & Camping or other local accommodation, but sorry accommodation isn’t included in our Wild Wednesday events.
