Brancaster Mussels in Season
Location:
Along the north Norfolk coast
Enjoy our local speciality, fresh mussels from Brancaster Staithe Harbour
These delicious shellfish can be enjoyed during months with an 'r' in them, so roughly from September to April depending on how warm early autumn and spring are.
Mussels can be enjoyed in pubs, restaurants and cafes along the coast. Perfect accompaniment to a stay at Deepdale Backpackers and Camping.
Flights of Geese
Location:
Along the north Norfolk coast
Many thousands of geese visit the north Norfolk coast during the Winter months.
The skies are filled with them and it is an amazing spectacle of nature, which is well worth seeing. Happens from roughly mid October to early February.

Pensthorpe Floodlit Bird Feeds
Time:
15:00
Location:
Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, A1067, Fakenham, North Norfolk
 |
For a fascinating insight into all the rare and colourful birds at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve this autumn and winter, come to one of the floodlit feeds taking place from 24th October 2009 to 28th February 2010.
The feeds are free to watch if you have paid to enter the reserve or spent £2 or more in the shop. Otherwise there is just a small charge of just £2.
And there's no need to worry about the cold, because you can enjoy the floodlit feeds from the warm and comfortable Viewing Gallery. From there you will get a full commentary from the reserve's wardens who will tell you about the breed of birds that are coming in to feed and why, and will then be on hand to answer any questions you may have about birds, and winter feeding here or at home.
Deb Jordan, co-owner of Pensthorpe Nature Reserve says: "Our floodlit feeds have been very popular in the past because it's an ideal way to see the birds up close and learn more about then during the colder times of the year. Our wardens are very well informed and often the questions by our visitors after the floodlit feed are about how they can best feed the birds in their own gardens through the winter."
Visit www.pensthorpe.com or call 01328 851465 for more information and
opening times.
